According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea has finalised the signing of Charlton Athletic teenager Mason Burstow on transfer deadline day. The 18-year-old has been returned to the League One club on loan until the end of the season.
Burstow's achievements at Charlton Athletic drew interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Brentford. The European champions, on the other hand, were able to get the highly-rated forward after making a "significant bid."Charlton Athletic's Mason Burstow has had a breakout season in League One. This season, the forward has six goals in 15 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Burstow's impending move to the Premier League giants has been confirmed by Charlton Athletic boss Johnnie Jackson. According to reports, he said:
‘’Mason has received a bid from a Premier League team, so we've given him permission to speak with them. I feel that a deal is extremely close to being reached, and that he will be returning to us on loan. It's fantastic that the club and the chairman have reached an agreement that satisfies him. However, we also get the player back."
"It's nice to know that if we can get him back on loan, I'll be able to continue to assist with that. Hopefully, we'll be able to transfer him to Chelsea as a greater player than he is right now.'"
Chelsea has a reputation for developing some of England's most brilliant young players. Mason Mount, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Tammy Abraham have all come through the Blues' development system in recent seasons.
